To Drain, or Not to Drain, the Swamp?

That’s the question. But can it be accomplished? Let’s look closer.

Washington, DC was not built on a swamp. The Muckster is on record to dispel that myth once and for all. Our nation’s capitol was built on hard ground. Yeah, it’s a popular myth, but like Washington, DC, it just isn’t factual.

The image that persists is that Washington politicians have developed it into a figurative swamp teeming with all sorts of vermin and venomous creatures. That is a fact.

George Knew What He was Doing

Congress authorized George Washington to lead a three-member commission to pick the site for the new nation’s capitol in 1791.

He knew precisely what he was doing. There was never any doubt that the new city and federal district would be located at the head of navigation on the Potomac River. It was not established on the marshy edges of Chesapeake Bay.

Washington was a nearby resident and landowner who knew the region firsthand. He saw a rolling riverside terrain of old tobacco fields to be the site for the federal capitol to be much like his home at Mount Vernon. The Capitol was built on a firm and dry riverbank just as other early American cities such as Philadelphia and Cincinnati. The land sloped steadily upward away from the Potomac between Rock Creek and the Anacostia River, then called the Eastern Branch of the Potomac.

What is all this Swamp Talk About?

President Donald Trump has something in common with Ron Paul and Nancy Pelosi. They promised to “drain the swamp” of Washington politics. That must mean the lifelong bureaucrats, lobbyists and other government vermin as well.

Donald Trump sounded like a determined civil engineer who specialized in hydraulic engineering. There is some truth to that characterization if one applies the definition of hydraulic engineering as a sub-discipline of civil engineering which is concerned with the flow and conveyance of fluids, principally water and sewage.

That’s What People were Talking About: Sewage

To equate the environment of Washington DC to sewage is exactly what people not in government or politics classify it. The Muckster is going to stick with the classical description. I’m calling it a pond scum covered swamp hiding grimy gummint characters much like those Walt Kelly created for us.

"We have met the enemy and he is us."

In 20/20: A Clear Vision for America the Muckster exposed the crisis caused by the top 20 problems imposed by a bloated, dysfunctional federal government. “We the People” through our misled ideology have continued to vote for the contaminated political establishment and we have nurtured these scumbags who have become permanent residents cultivated and sustained in a political swamp located inside the Beltway and on Manhattan Island.

Is it any wonder the “Swamp” would be difficult to drain when we know that more than eighty percent of the federal employees in the Department of State and the intelligence community vote for, and donate, to the Democrat Party? Of course, these partisan bureaucrats are going to feed the beast that guarantees their existence.

If these vermin supported the RHINOs, the GOATs would be protesting early and often, just like they vote. Both political parties are both responsible, and repugnant, for allowing this evil scourge to fester on the firm ground of the Constitution.

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda

This expression of dismissiveness or disappointment concerning a statement, question, explanation, course of action, or occurrence involving hypothetical possibilities, uncertain facts, or missed opportunities is correctly describing the foul political landscape has somehow nourished rotten politics and what “We the People” have nourished and now failed to rid ourselves of.

We could have done something about the swamp eons ago. We would have done something about if we had paid attention. We should have done something about the swamp but we are too enamored with our ideology.

One man cannot cleanse it. It will take a majority of the more than 320 million American citizens to “Drain the Swamp.”

Stay tuned. The Muckster is monitoring the swamp sewage level and watching for venomous creatures that are lurking just below the pond scum. I am here to lead you out of this slimy past and into a bright future with 20/20: A Clear Vision for Our future. Check it out. Be part of the narrative.

Bill-Buckler-Bio-01-1

Finally, an author who brings you solutions, instead of problems.

Americans have lost faith in their overreaching federal government. “We the People” don’t need to be overregulated or have their taxes misspent. Americans are victims of a crumbling economy, high prices and stagnant wages. They view government as bloated and politicians as corrupt.

They do not trust the leadership at any level. They see politicians of both parties as self-centered narcissists whose only objective is re-election. The author is like you, with one principal difference and 20 reasons for optimism. His “Vision” of America is “clear.” It is a vision of the Constitution and America the way it could be, the way it should be. The author’s eyesight is twenty-twenty.

    Bill-

Once again, a series of insightful, accurate articles that describe the state we are in as a country and the challenges that lie ahead. With 80 million millennial, we can only wonder where this country is headed given their immersion in the leftist media and the socialist agenda that is on display, along with the left wing violence and intolerance.
