To EU or not EU, That is the Question

Are you all gaga about what is going on across the pond? Does anyone really care? I presume we should all be interested since America decided to leave the UK 240 years ago. Now the UK is having a referendum on whether to leave the EU, or stay. What impact does that have on the US after all of these years?

In an all-out effort to bring you information you cannot receive from the Main Stream Media (MSM) the Muckster went overseas to learn what the UK MSM is conveying to its readers/viewers. Of course I did my research. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism . . . to steal from many is research. In this case, to be fair and balanced, I stole most of it from Brian Wheeler & Alex Hunt of BBC News which is the MSM in the UK.

Referendum Day in the UK

A referendum is being held on Thursday, June 23, 2016, to decide whether Britain should leave or remain in the European Union. A referendum is a vote in which almost every eligible voter can give a "Yes" or "No" reply to a question. Whichever side gets more than half the votes will win.

Really? I wonder?

how-would-brexit-affect-expats-pensions-residency-jobs-and-healthcare-136406074460703901-160513131752Why is the UK doing this?

Prime Minister David Cameron promised to hold a referendum, if he won the 2015 general election, in response to growing calls from his own Conservative Members of Parliament (MPs) and the UK Independence Party (UKIP), who argued that Britain had not had a say since 1975, when it voted to stay in the EU in a referendum. The EU has changed a lot since then, gaining more control over our daily lives, they argued. Cameron replied, "It is time for the British people to have their say. It is time to settle this European question in British politics."

What is the European Union? EU or PU?

The European Union, aka the EU, is an economic and political partnership involving 28 European countries. It began after World War II to foster economic co-operation, with the idea that countries which trade together, don’t invade each other. It has become a “Quasi-Nation” with member states posing as a "single market" allowing goods and people to move around. Its’ currency, the euro, is used by 19 of the member countries. Why not by all 28 members? It has its own parliament in Brussels who institutes rules in a wide range of areas - including the environment, transport, consumer rights and even things like mobile phone charges. The following video describes the EU:

The EU has a Flag

eu-flag-ss-1920It features a circle of 12 gold stars on a blue background. They stand for the ideals of unity, solidarity and harmony among the peoples of Europe. The number of stars has nothing to do with the number of member countries, though the circle is a symbol of unity. Sounds like the UN.

Does this sound familiar?

Think back to 1776. The American Colonies had a “Brexit” or “Grexit” if you like. Our “Founding Fathers” didn’t like being just another group of colonies to foot the bill (taxes) for all of King George’s blunders. So the individual colonies banded together and went through a process of First Colonial Congress, a Revolutionary War and then a United States Constitution. The colonial states formed a republic. Now the republic has turned it upside down and the states are regional departments of a massive, bloated, dysfunctional federal government. So much for good intentions. Sounds like the EU, doesn’t it?

What is this Brexit and Grexit nonsense?

It is a word used as a shorthand way of saying the UK is leaving the EU. The words Britain and exit merge to become Brexit, in a similar way as a Greek exit from the EU was dubbed Grexit. Or one could say Great Britain and Exit form Grexit. Then there is Bremain. Merge the words Britain and Remain and voila, you have Great Britain remains in the EU.

Aren’t you glad I sort out all of this EU BS for you?

Who will be able to vote?

British, Irish and Commonwealth citizens over 18 who reside in the UK, along with UK nationals living abroad who have been on the electoral register in the UK in the past 15 years. Members of the House of Lords and Commonwealth citizens in Gibraltar will also be eligible, unlike in a general election. Citizens from EU countries, apart from Ireland, Malta and Cyprus, are not eligible to vote.

How do you vote?

It will be a similar system to that during other elections. If you have registered to vote, you'll be sent a card telling you when voting takes place and where you should go to vote on June 23, 2016. An option to vote by post is also available.

David Cameron tried to Change the Rules of the UK's EU Membership

David Cameron, in January and February, sought an agreement with other European Union leaders to change the terms of Britain's membership. The “new Deal” will take immediate effect if the UK votes to remain in the EU. It will give Britain "special" status within the 28 nation club. It will clarify a few things the British people don't like about the EU, such as high levels of immigration and giving up their ability to govern. Sealed with a kiss!

Critics say this “New Deal” is Too Little, Too Late.

My personal interviews with British citizens tell a more personal story. Margaret Jones of Cheshire says, “we are sick of the EU and will be glad when the vote is taken. We have been promised this Referendum for years. The EU was set up around 1957 with about 6 other countries to make trading easier. We contribute more than any other country. Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain should never have been allowed to join as they have never met the criteria.

And they drain the funds at every chance they get . . . Greece being the worst offender. Now the eastern block is invited in, all with their hands out.

We and all thinking Brits want out. We used to buy lamb from Australia and New Zealand and they were devastated when we stopped trading with them. I would prefer to trade with India and Australia than be in the EU. It is like the 4th Reich. We fought 2 world wars to not be told what to do.

What will be the currency and how will the monetary unit be worked out? Margaret replied, “Juncker and the leader of the monetary unit are now threatening us on how hard they will make life for us if we leave . . . Hello. How many German cars do we buy in England? We buy far more from them, than they do from us.

We didn’t need Obama sticking his oar in, telling us to stay in the EU. The state he has got your wonderful country in, he can wind his neck in. Bet you wished you had never asked.

No Margaret, I’m glad I asked. The same thing is happening in the USA. The “Open Border” advocates want globalization. They want to eliminate sovereignty. They want equality of results, not equality of opportunity. Why? It is much easier to control us that way, just like what is happening in Europe.

In 20/20: A Clear Vision for America, I exhorted the US to leave the UN and the UN to leave the US. I encourage the UK to Brexit.

God Bless us all and God Bless America. Our country, our Constitution, our culture, our civilization and our children need you now more than ever.

Bill-Buckler-Bio-01-1Finally, an author who brings you solutions, instead of problems.

Americans have lost faith in their overreaching federal government. “We the People” don’t need to be overregulated or have their taxes misspent. Americans are victims of a crumbling economy, high prices and stagnant wages. They view government as bloated and politicians as corrupt.

They do not trust the leadership at any level. They see politicians of both parties as self-centered narcissists whose only objective is re-election. The author is like you, with one principal difference and 20 reasons for optimism. His “Vision” of America is “clear.” It is a vision of the Constitution and America the way it could be, the way it should be. The author’s eyesight is twenty-
